Design elements

 

The Metropolitan Automatic models all feature an exhibition caseback with a large window showcasing the beautiful automatic movement. You will be able to observe the rotor spinning and admire the engineering that goes into the design of the beating heart of an automatic watch.

One of the signature elements of the Metropolitan Automatic collection is the double domed bubble crystal covering the dial. Reminiscent of the bold mid-century modern designs of the 60s, it gives the watch an undeniable presence. The domed shape creates a slight distortion at the edge of the crystal, a signature look of 60s watches and part of the unique character of the Metropolitan watch.

The Calibre 90S5/9015 used in the Metropolitan Automatic watches is an exceptional high-spec, Japan-made automatic movement featuring a 42-hour power reserve.

It is a 3-hand movement that has been favorably compared to the ETA2824 movement used in luxury watches such as Baume & Mercier, Bell & Ross and Tudor.

Its high 28,800 bph (8 beats per second) impart it with a super smooth sweep of the seconds hand.

It was developed and is manufactured by Miyota, an iconic Japanese manufacturer with a reputation for quality, reliability and precision. The 90S5/9015 is ideally suited for an heirloom watch like the Rossling & Co. Metropolitan.

All Metropolitan Automatic watches feature a faux-croc genuine leather strap with genuine leather backing for ultimate comfort and durability. The polished buckle is engraved with the Rossling & Co. logo.

The case of the watch is made of highly polished stainless steel (316L) for ultimate durability and strength. The low profile crown allows for easy adjustment of the time or date.

The Metropolitan Automatic collection showcases 3 different dial colors (gloss black, gloss white and sunburst blue) each available in 2 dial layout options (Classic and Open-Heart). All dials feature hand-applied polished indices and diamond cut hands.

The Open-Heart layout features a round window at 6 o’clock showcasing the 90S5 movement.

The Classic layout features a square date window at 6 o’clock.

Each watch is hand-assembled and is delivered with an international 2-year warranty card and a certificate of authenticity. Each watch will features a unique serial number on the caseback (ex.: 001/399).
